Hey, have you noticed it's windy out there?

Chattering of corn stalks in winter, Hadley MA
(the wind really picks up around 0:30)

No, it’s not just your imagination. It is windy out there –  and it will stay windy through tomorrow. In fact, the National Weather Service currently has two advisories posted.

The first WIND ADVISORY, currently in effect, is for northwest wind gusts of 50-60 mph this evening due to a strong cold front that is working across the region. It will remain windy tonight, but the worst of it will affect us this evening until about 8 pm. Tree damage, isolated power outages, and road closures will be possible.

The second WIND ADVISORY is for tomorrow from 9 AM  to 5 PM for much of Southern New England, including Hampshire County. Expect sustained northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. That’s strong enough to down small tree limbs and branches, possibly causing isolated power outages.

Keep in mind that driving both tonight and tomorrow may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles and bicycles. Superheroes and winged creatures are also likely to find travel quite challenging.
